Stila Haul + Review

Back in mid October I found myself browsing the internet in search of some sort of sale or deal. Okay so I may have been unemployed at the time, but the weather was gloomy and I needed a cosmetics pick me up! Luckily for me I stumbled across this insane deal over at Stila that didn't conflict with my bank account.

All of the products I ended up purchasing were actually about to become discontinued (hence the low prices), and I personally really enjoy trying out makeup thats on it's way out. It gives me the chance to experience them before it's too late!

Stila Prime Pot in "Taffy"

The first thing I added to my shopping cart was this waterproof eye shadow primer. After my my initial attempt at applying Prime Pot to the lids of my eyes I was less than thrilled. The formulation was dryer than expected so I ended up pulling at my eyes more than I would have liked, and on top of that I was applying too much of the product because I was having a difficult time blending it throughout my entire lid.

For attempt number two I opted to use a shadow brush as opposed to my fingers to blend onto my lids. Now I would advise working fast being that this product does dry to a matte finish, and does so very quickly, but using this method made a WORLD of difference! It really allowed the eye shadows I used to stand out and there wasn't nearly as much creasing. I particularly liked blending it along the lash line to help keep liner in place.

I also tried the tiniest bit across my lips before lipstick or gloss.

I would say this was definitely a fun product to play with, but while fun I wouldn't say it was the easiest. Is it my favorite eye shadow primer? No. That being said if applied correctly my eyes remain crease free throughout the day, and for the price I can't complain!

Stila Hydrating Finishing Powder

Okay so I'm not going to lie, this product was a complete disappointment. In the past years I've stood clear of any form of loose makeup, but I thought I'd try my hand at a setting powder. When I saw the words "hydrating" and "powder" I thought "This is it!". I'm not a huge fan of matte foundation and the one thing that kept me away from using finishing powders was the drying factor so I figured this product would be a win win.

When I took a closer look at the packaging I realized this was going to be a problem from the start. The only way to get the product out would be to flip the container over, allowing the powder to fall through the holes, then once right side up flip open the lid. Long story short: MAKEUP EVERYWHERE. I then made an attempt to apply the finishing powder with a brush only to find more of it ended up in the air verses my face.

I ended up with a mess that needed to be cleaned and makeup in my lungs, so I guess I wound up with a loose loose. But hey we all make mistakes! Not everything a brand makes is going to be your cup of tea.

Countless Color Pigments
From left to right: "acoustic" "groupie" "center stage"

Drum roll please...  did everyone drum roll? Okay go re-read that with the drum roll added in. I fell in love with these pigments! They are super soft and blendable, and are pretty much eyeshadow palettes shrunken down into these tiny pots. While they're ironically not the most pigmented in comparison to other eyeshadows I've used, they do give a really pretty natural look and can be easily thrown into a bag(they work great as a highlight as well!).

If you find yourself on the go a lot and you can get ahold of these items before their all gone, I highly recommend you do!
Cost: $22 I Paid: $4

Have any of you used these products? What did you think about them? Also, what are your favorite products that are soon to be gone or discontinued?
