February Favorites

I've been having a lot of fun putting a different spin on my videos lately, and I managed to condense last months favorites down to three minutes. And while I do enjoy blabbing to you all about foundation for fifteen minutes I figured this would be helpful for those of you who want their shopping inspiration (enabling?) a little quicker.

Share your favorites in the comments of this video or down below if you'd prefer. I love seeing everyone else's monthly obsessions!

Just One Shade Of Gray

Instead of referencing a movie I'm happily unacquainted with, let's talk about nail polish. Wait. That was basically a reference in itself wasn't it? I'm willing to move past this if you are.

On my nails today is "the thames" by Nails Inc. After putting off doing my nails for months I figured my nail beds deserved only the best. Like I said, they had been bare for MONTHS! Seriously, we are talking over a hundred days. Personally I'm a lover of nudes and neutrals. Don't get me wrong I can have a really amazing fling with a bright neon from time to time, but there's something I find comforting about my standard go-to nail polish color. Call me boring.

When I found the perfect shade of gray I latched on. This color is cool toned so it almost has a bit of blue in certain lights. Does not look muddy or bland at all. I'm actually surprised to see that this gray has some life to it. The formulation is also incredibly easy to work with so if you haven't given Nails Inc. a go I would advise that you do.

What's your go-to polish? I would love an excuse to widen my collection!

Baby It's (kind of) Cold Outside

We have had the most beautiful weather here in South Florida! Typically when I open my front door I'm met with a wall of humidity. To the point where it's hard for me to tell the difference between air and ocean. Not this week. It's been so lovely I felt compelled to leave the confides of my home and my wifi to step outside.

Style/ outfit posts don't really feel like my "thing" given that my wardrobe mainly consists of leggings and oversized T-shirts. But the fresh air and sweater jacket weather made this post feel mandatory. Along with some snapshots of what I was wearing I've included some of the plants in my backyard, because why not?! If you're reading this mom, yes, I think your flowers are pretty. I just also believe you're a little TOO into it so I will continue to make fun of you. It's totally not because everything I touch dies, and I'm jealous. Yeah, that's totally not it.

Hope you all make your day amazing, and if the weather around you is not so beautiful stay safe. If you'd like to see more style posts let me know, and if you would like to know more details about my outfit you can watch my video here.

Zoeva Vegan Prime Set + Individual Vegan Brush

If you've reached these words then you must have just finished scrolling through the photos above, and I'm sure we can both agree on the absolute beauty that are these Zoeva brushes. So beautiful in fact that it took me two months to dip the silk finish brush into foundation for the first time. I realize that's insane, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for pretty things. The idea of ruining them was unbearable so I was content with staring at clean bristles for awhile.

I suppose by now you have come to the assumption that presentation is very important to me. Zoeva did not disappoint in this department. Not only were their items packaged with love, from the black tissue sealed with their emblem to the plastic placed on individual brushes keeping them protected from damage, but they took a step further by including detailed information on the product. Inside was a small card with the name of the person that checked the quality of the brushes along with contact information to reach out to the company. Never in my years of online shopping have I come across the specific name to reference if anything happened to be wrong with my product. I also found a larger card discussing the brands mission statement which, unbeknown to me, included their work with causes supporting women in need. The brushes you receive are top notch, but you're also supporting a great cause.

Before going into the details of the brushes themselves I feel the dust bag and clutch are worth mentioning. In the past I've received travel cases of sorts with brush sets that were less than impressive. Frankly they were cheap and impractical. The bag that came with this set on the other hand is actually nice! No silly slots you have to squeeze brush handles into. Just a simple, sleek clutch. I'd also like to note that the individual brush I purchased came with its own brush bag that should come in handy when traveling for makeup storage.

After my ramblings I'm sure you're ready to hear about the ACTUAL makeup brushes. All brushes are vegan, and are included in their Vegan Prime Set (aside from a foundation brush which is sold individually in the vegan brushes section). Therefore all are made from synthetic materials as opposed to natural animal fur. Yay for keepin' it cruelty free! The first thing I noticed was how amazingly soft they were, and not the kind of slippery soft that causes your product to go everywhere. That's a nightmare. No one wants to use what can only be described as a duster to apply their makeup in the morning. These on the other hand did a perfect job of evenly distributing product onto my skin. I was shocked at how well my Tarte BB tinted treatment primer blended into my skin. Typically without a damp makeup sponge it can be a pain to apply. Overall I very VERY pleased with these brushes. If you'd like to see them in action you can head over to my youtube channel, lots of makeup tutorials with these beauties will be coming soon!

Fall Inspired Affordable Makeup

Fall has finally graced us with its presence and I couldn't be more excited about it! It's my all time favorite season, and given that I live in Florida I cant necessarily enjoy the changes in nature. So I thought I'd do the next best thing. Change up my makeup routine!

Now I'm not exactly rolling in $100 bills so I opted to go the more affordable route by looking into reasonably priced items. I took a more natural approach as you can see below in my most recent video, but I'd like to do something a little bit more dramatic here on the blog so stay tuned.

The e.l.f. eyeshadow quad I picked up pleasantly surprised me with its color payoff, and quality. They're soft as well as blendable and contained a beautiful range of colors that reminded me of the changing leaves. Would be a great product to throw in your bag, and I'm looking forward to grabbing more of these. The eyeliner was also a good buy. No smudging and easy to apply, which is saying something because you and I both know liquid eyeliner can be a nightmare. NYX lipstick is pretty much always a safe bet. I felt the color I chose was flattering and worked well with my skin tone.

Moving on to products I wasn't too in love with. The NYX Faux Lashes mascara was kind of a dud. The concept was alright, I always love a good fiber mascara, but it ended up getting all over the place. I had little fibers all under my eyes, which is not ideal. The waterproof concealer was actually really nice and I got complements on my skin the days I've worn it. The only thing I would say is consider using it as more of a substitute for foundation or to cover breakouts/ redness as it separated under my eyes. Other than that I'd say for under $20 I did alright!

Products in order of appearance
e.l.f. Small Angled Brush
e.l.f. Professional Defining Eye Brush
e.l.f. Flawless Eyeshadow "Beautiful Browns"
NYX Lipstick "Chaos" #511
NYX Faux Lashes Mascara
e.l.f. Liquid Eyeliner
NYX Incredible Waterproof Concealer

If any of you have tried these products I'd love to hear your take on them. Also if you have any affordable makeup staples that you always HAVE to have in your collection please share!
